I was conflicted when I took this photo, as I didn’t want to exploit the homeless man in the shot. However I thought that the juxtaposition of the man sleeping next to the “most luxurious rental residences in San Francisco” was a poignant statement on a city in which extreme wealth and poverty sit side-by-side. Since this was taken in the mid-2000’s the level of homelessness in San Francisco has grown exponentially.
